Their story
Barcode was started in Los Angeles by Mubarak "Bar" Malik, a former performance director for the New York Knicks, and NBA player Kyle Kuzma. Malik wondered why the helpful compounds he used with athletes were not available in an everyday drink.
The drink launched in April 2021, positioned as a plant-based fitness water.
How it's made
Barcode is built on coconut water with magnesium and vitamins B6, B12 and D, plus adaptogens such as ashwagandha and mushroom extracts. It is sweetened with monk fruit and has about 30 calories and 2 grams of sugar per serving.
Why we carry them
We like Barcode as a lighter alternative to sugary sports drinks. It is a good pick after a workout or a long day.
