Their story
Blue Zones Kitchen is an Austin, Texas company co-founded by Dan Buettner, the National Geographic Fellow who spent years studying the Blue Zones, the handful of places where people routinely live into their nineties and beyond. He later shared that work in the Netflix series "Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones."
The idea behind the brand is simple: take the beans, grains and vegetables that anchor those long-lived diets and make them easy to put on a weeknight table. The result is a line of ready meals, from a burrito bowl to a mushroom birria bowl and a Korean bibimbap bowl.
How it's made
The meals are fully plant-based and Non-GMO Project Verified. Instead of added sugar, the sauces get their sweetness and body from fruit and vegetable purees. Each meal is packed in a BPI-certified compostable bowl.
Why we carry them
We like having a frozen meal in the case that we can feel good about on a busy night. These bowls lean on beans, grains and vegetables, and they taste like real cooking.
