Their story
David is a protein bar company led by co-founder and CEO Peter Rahal, who set out to make a bar that delivers far more protein per calorie than typical options on the shelf.
The bars launched in September 2024 and grew fast, backed by seed funding and then a large Series A round in 2025. That same year David bought Epogee, the supplier of a key fat ingredient in its bars, to secure its supply.
The company has said it plans to expand beyond its first bar line into new products.
How it's made
Each bar packs 28 grams of protein into about 150 calories, using a mix of milk protein isolate, collagen, whey and egg whites. Instead of sugar, the bars use sweeteners like allulose and maltitol, and a modified plant-based fat called EPG keeps the calorie count down.
