Their story
The Tessendier story starts in the Borderies, the smallest of Cognac's growing areas, where Gaston Tessendier inherited the Domaine du Buisson estate in 1862. Over the following generations the family kept the vineyard, built a distillery, and steadily refined its cognac, with the distillery business dating to 1880.
Today Jérôme and Lilian Tessendier run the house from the town of Cognac, with distilleries in Jarnac and Saintes. The family only began bottling and selling its own cognacs in 2005. In 2009 it took over the Park brand, and it also bottles under names such as Grand Breuil, Campagnère, and Du Buisson rather than its own family name.
How it's made
The family still owns vineyards at Domaine du Buisson in the Borderies and also buys eaux-de-vie, holding stocks from all six Cognac crus. Besides its own brands, it distills for other cognac labels.
Why we carry them
This is a grower-distiller family making cognac from its own Borderies vineyards. We like their bottlings for anyone curious about how place shows up in cognac.
