Their story
Bigallet was founded in 1872 by Felix Bigallet in Virieu-sur-Bourbre, a village between Lyon and Grenoble in the foothills of the French Alps. He built the business on liqueurs made from the herbs and plants of the surrounding mountains.
The house has stayed rooted in the same village for generations. Today it is best known abroad for China-China, a bittersweet orange amer, along with Le Grand Tetras genepi and a thyme liqueur.
How it's made
Herbs, peels and botanicals are macerated or percolated to draw out their flavor, then blended and aged. China-China combines sweet and bitter orange peels with other botanicals.
Why we carry them
We like Bigallet for real French Alpine flavor in a bottle. China-China is a great swap for orange liqueur in a Manhattan or on ice with soda.
