Their story
Hepp's Salt Co. was started in Los Angeles by Brian Hepp, who left a career in the medical field after a love of grilling and cooking drew him into the world of gourmet sea salt.
He launched the business around 2011, selling at farmers markets around Southern California, including the Larchmont market, and online. It grew quickly into a team selling at more than a dozen markets, with white truffle sea salt as the clear favorite.
How it's made
Hepp's sources salts from the United States and abroad, including Cyprus, the Himalayas, Brazil and France. The flavored blends, such as truffle, rosemary and smoked salts, are mixed in the United States. Most are meant as finishing salts, sprinkled on food just before serving.
