Their story
Labadens is the project of Thomas and Fanny, a couple making wine in the southern Rhone Valley. Before starting out on their own, Thomas worked as a consultant for wineries in Ventoux and Vacqueyras.
They founded Labadens in 2010 and keep it small, with about 3 hectares of vines. Their range includes Vacqueyras, Crozes-Hermitage and easygoing Escartefigue red and white blends.
How it's made
The vineyards are farmed organically, without chemicals in the vines or the cellar. Wines ferment with native yeasts and minimal sulfur, reds are made in concrete vats, and the Escartefigue red sees semi-carbonic maceration with no oak.
Why we carry them
We like Labadens for fresh, honest Rhone wines from a small grower, especially the juicy Escartefigue for weeknight dinners.
