Their story
Makabi & Sons is the work of Eiman Behmanesh, who started baking treats inspired by food adventures with friends around Los Angeles. He named the bakery for his mother, the person who gave him his taste for unusual, layered flavors.
The cookies are named for places as much as ingredients: rose, pistachio and cardamom for Morocco, matcha and toasted black sesame for Uji in Japan. They come packed in hand-illustrated boxes made to be given as gifts.
How it's made
The cookies are handmade in small batches with sweet cream butter, premium flour, pure extracts and whole spices. Flavors lean on ingredients sourced from around the world, from cardamom and rose to cocoa with a touch of cayenne. The line also includes shortbread and infused raw honey.
Why we carry them
We like Makabi & Sons for a host gift that tastes as good as it looks. The rose pistachio cardamom is our pick to start with.
