Their story

Penelope Bourbon is the work of Mike Paladini and Danny Polise, who grew up next door to each other in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and later went into business together. The brand is run from Roselle, New Jersey.

The bourbon is named for Paladini's daughter, Penelope. He liked the way the name sounded next to the word bourbon and saw it as a fresh take on a category often marketed in a very masculine way. Penelope first went on sale in New Jersey in September 2019.

How it's made

Rather than distilling themselves, the founders select and blend bourbons. In 2018 they tasted through stocks at MGP, a large distillery in Indiana, and built their flagship from a blend of three bourbons. The core whiskey is a four-grain bourbon, marked by a gold P on the bottle.

Whiskey is very masculine and the name is just a different take on it.
Mike Paladini, co-founder, to New Jersey Monthly (2021)

Why we carry them

We like Penelope's four-grain as a soft, approachable bourbon for sipping or mixing. It's a good pick for someone just getting into whiskey.
