Their story

Pierre Ferrand cognac is the founding brand of Maison Ferrand, the house Alexandre Gabriel built in the Cognac region of western France. In 1989 he and partner Jean Dominique Andreu bought Pierre Ferrand's vineyard and distillery in La Nérolle, near Segonzac, in the heart of Grande Champagne, and gained access to old cognac stocks from a neighboring distillery.

They launched the brand in the United States and kept growing from there. Andreu left in 2008, and Gabriel now owns the company and serves as its master blender. The house later added Citadelle gin, Plantation (now Planteray) rum and, in 2012, Ferrand Dry Curaçao, an orange liqueur made with bartenders in mind.

How it's made

The cognacs are built on Grande Champagne, the top growing area in Cognac, and aged in French oak before blending. The house also makes experimental bottlings such as its Renegade series, cognac finished in barrels that once held rum.

Why we carry them

We reach for Pierre Ferrand when we want a cognac that works neat or in a classic cocktail. Their Dry Curaçao is one of the best ways to upgrade a margarita or Mai Tai at home.
