Their story
Scribe is the work of brothers Andrew and Adam Mariani, who grew up in Winters, California, on their family's walnut and almond ranch. Farming taught them early how much care a crop needs, and how closely a family's fortunes can be tied to one harvest.
In 2007 they took over a run-down former turkey farm in Sonoma and set about turning it into a winery. Over the years Scribe has become a favorite gathering place for the Bay Area food and wine crowd, known for its seasonal pick-up parties as much as for what is in the bottle.
How it's made
The vineyards are farmed without chemical inputs, and vegetable and fruit gardens on the property help draw in beneficial insects that keep pests in check. Fermentations rely only on native yeast, which is still uncommon in California. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir lead the lineup, alongside plantings of Riesling and Sylvaner.
We're always thinking, how can we intervene less in this natural process?
Why we carry them
We love Scribe for showing how Sonoma tastes when a farm family lets the land do the talking. Pour the Pinot with dinner and see.
