Their story

Sébastien Brunet makes wine in Vouvray, the Loire Valley appellation built on Chenin Blanc. He took over his family's vines after his father died in 2006 and has since become one of the names wine writers follow in the region.

His range covers still and sparkling Vouvray, from dry, barrel-fermented bottlings to lively pétillant and sparkling wines. This listing appears to be a collaboration bottling; the producer profile here covers Brunet's domaine.

How it's made

Brunet farms organically, though he has not sought certification. His dry Renaissance cuvée comes from vines 40 to 50 years old and is fermented in large oak barrels, a mix of new and used. The goal is concentration with plenty of freshness.

Why we carry them

We think Brunet is a great way into Vouvray for anyone who has only had the sweet stuff. His wines are bright, textured and very food friendly.
