Their story
Spicewell was founded by Raina Kumra, who grew up in the Bay Area and built a varied career in film, advertising, digital media, government and nonprofit work before turning to food. Her idea was to make the most basic seasonings on the table do a little more.
The result is what the company calls a nutrient-dense salt and pepper: everyday staples blended with vitamins and minerals drawn from plants. The products are packaged in California.
How it's made
Spicewell works with a food scientist to blend its salt and pepper with plant-sourced vitamins and minerals, with each half-teaspoon serving providing a share of daily needs. The pepper blend includes turmeric and the salt includes ashwagandha. The company sources locally where it can and uses paper packaging alongside compostable pouches.
