Their story

Glendullan sits in the Conval Hills outside Dufftown, the Speyside town locals say stands on seven stills. Built in 1897, it was the seventh distillery to open there, set beside a river where salmon come to spawn in winter.

In its early years a private railway carried casks south, and by 1902 the whisky had found its way to the court of King Edward VII.

Today the distillery is part of Diageo and makes The Singleton of Glendullan, one of three Singleton single malts alongside Glen Ord and Dufftown. Master Blender Dr. Craig Wilson oversees the cask blending for the range.

How it's made

The distillery draws water from the Dullan Water and runs it through large, onion-shaped stills that give a light spirit with a green apple note. Most of the spirit ages in former bourbon casks of American oak, and a smaller share in former sherry casks of European oak, before the two are married together.

Why we carry them

We reach for The Singleton when someone wants an easygoing single malt to start with, since it is mellow and fruity without being sleepy.
