Their story
Top Note grew out of Mary Pellettieri's weekends. After more than 25 years in craft beer, she started making soda syrups at home for fun, and in 2015 she turned the hobby into a company in Milwaukee, later joined by co-founder Noah Swanson.
The business began in a shared commercial kitchen in the Lincoln Warehouse building in Bay View and has since moved to South Water Street. The range has grown from tonic syrups into bottled and canned tonic waters, ginger beer, bitter sodas and other mixers.
How it's made
Recipes start with whole ingredients such as citrus peel, herbs and fresh lemon juice, and the syrups are developed in house. The drinks are produced with Wisconsin co-packers, including Sprecher Brewery, using natural extracts to keep flavors consistent from batch to batch.
We take a craft, American approach to a very traditional category.
Why we carry them
We reach for Top Note when a gin and tonic needs a tonic with real character. Their sodas also hold up on their own for anyone skipping alcohol.
