Their story
Westland Distillery was founded in Seattle in 2011 by Emerson Lamb and Matt Hofmann. From the start they focused on single malt whiskey made with ingredients from the Pacific Northwest.
Westland is now owned by the French spirits group Rémy Cointreau and continues to make its whiskey in Seattle.
How it's made
Westland uses water from the Cedar River watershed and barley from Washington's Skagit Valley, including experimental varieties grown on its own farm. Its Garryana releases age in barrels made from Garry oak, a tree native to the Pacific Northwest.
Why we carry them
Westland is our pick for anyone curious about American single malt. It shows how much local barley and oak can change a whiskey.
