Their story

Arkansas Black Applejack comes from Timberlane, a Northern California company started by husband and wife John and Samantha Collins. The brand began in 2013 with just two barrels.

The recipe honors Samantha's great-grandfather, Arthur "Skipper" Ford, who grew heirloom apples on Howell Mountain in Napa. His favorite variety was the deep red Arkansas Black, which gives the applejack its name.

How it's made

Each bottle holds the juice of about 25 pounds of fresh apples and nothing else. The apples are crushed, fermented into cider and distilled in a pot still, then the spirit ages two years in used French oak and a further year in new American bourbon barrels.

Why we carry them

Applejack is one of America's oldest spirits, and this one has a real family story behind it. We think it is a great swap for bourbon in an Old Fashioned.
