Their story
Rob Griffin and his wife, Deborah Barnard, launched Barnard Griffin in 1983 as a family business. Rob, a UC Davis fermentation science graduate, became a winemaker in Washington in 1977 and is one of the state's longest-serving.
The winery settled on Tulip Lane in Richland in 1997. Deborah opened a fused-glass studio across the courtyard in 2012, and their daughter Megan Hughes joined the team in 2010 and oversees much of the white wine production.
How it's made
Barnard Griffin makes a broad range of Columbia Valley wines. Early hits included its Fumé Blanc, and its Rose of Sangiovese, first made around 2000, became one of its top sellers alongside Chardonnay.
Our featured pick
Columbia Valley Merlot (750ML)
$24.00
A wine is 100% Merlot from Washington State. A perfect 'house wine,' medium bodied and full of tobacco, graphite, plum, blackberry, and black cherry.

Why we carry them
We like Barnard Griffin for steady, well-priced Washington wines from people who helped build the industry there. The Rose of Sangiovese is a summer favorite.
