Their story

BjornQorn began with two college roommates at Bard College. Bjorn Quenemoen had the idea for a popcorn business before graduating, and Jamie O'Shea designed the solar kettles to pop it.

The pair set up on Kelder's Farm in Kerhonkson, New York, where a farmer agreed to host their unusual equipment. The recipe, heavy on nutritional yeast, comes from Quenemoen's family, and much of the corn still comes from his family's farm in Minnesota.

How it's made

About 80 percent of the corn comes from the Quenemoen family farm in Minnesota and the rest is grown at Kelder's Farm, with organic kernels bought when demand runs high. Bjorn hand-sorts the Minnesota corn, and all of it is popped in the Hudson Valley in solar-powered kettles, later joined by a solar-electric setup.

We looked for a place where a farmer would let us build a crazy contraption.

Why we carry them

We can't stop snacking on this one. The savory nutritional yeast seasoning makes it taste almost buttery without any butter.
