Blume was started in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2017 by co-founders Karen Danudjaja and Ella Dalling. Danudjaja, who leads the company as CEO, has described the goal as making wellness feel friendly and approachable rather than strict.
The company bootstrapped for years, with only a small loan from the Business Development Bank of Canada, before raising its first outside round in 2022. Along the way Blume shifted to a flavor-first approach, and its latte blends spread from cafes and hotels to grocery shelves across Canada and the United States.
