Their story
Bobby's Gin is a family story. Jacobus "Bobby" Alfons was born in Indonesia and later settled in the Netherlands, where he took to flavoring Dutch jenever with the spices of his homeland.
In 2014 his grandsons, Sebastiaan and David de Klerk, revived his recipe and launched Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin, named for him and rooted in Schiedam, the Dutch town long known for jenever. The brand is still family-run, and the brothers continue to tell their grandfather's story through it.
How it's made
The gin pairs classic Schiedam botanicals, including juniper, fennel seed, coriander and rose hips, with Indonesian spices drawn from Bobby's pinang raci recipe: lemongrass, cloves, cinnamon and cubeb pepper.
Why we carry them
We like a gin with a clear sense of where it comes from, and Bobby's brings Dutch and Indonesian roots into one bottle. The lemongrass and clove make for a warm, aromatic gin and tonic.
