Their story

Henry's House of Coffee is a family shop on Noriega Street in San Francisco's Outer Sunset. Henry Kalebjian, who is Armenian by birth, grew up in Lebanon, where he was put in charge of roasting at his father's bakery and cafe when he was 12.

The storefront has been a neighborhood fixture since 1965, when it opened as an Armenian deli; the writer William Saroyan was a regular. Henry took it over in 1983 and turned it into a coffee roaster and cafe. His son Hrag later left a finance career to join him, and in 2016 the shop became the Outer Sunset's first official San Francisco Legacy Business.

How it's made

Henry still roasts in the shop on a 12-kilo San Franciscan roaster that customers can watch in action. Hrag, a licensed Q Grader, helps with roasting and cupping. Coffee is roasted in small batches and sold fresh by the pound.

It’s always been about the coffee for my dad.

Why we carry them

We are proud to carry coffee from a family that has been roasting across town for decades. It is San Francisco coffee history you can brew at home.
