Their story

The Tea Spot is a Boulder, Colorado tea company started by Maria Uspenski, an MIT-trained mechanical engineer. After a cancer diagnosis before she turned 40, with two young daughters at home, she began reading everything she could about long-term wellness and kept running into research on tea, green tea in particular.

That search turned into a business in the mid-2000s. The early years brought hard lessons: the company tried to grow quickly in stores with pricey loose-leaf tea, pulled back, and rebuilt itself around wholesale and online sales.

Today The Tea Spot sells signature blends like Boulder Breakfast, single-origin teas, matcha and its own line of infusers and brewing mugs designed for loose tea on the go.

How it's made

The company sells whole-leaf teas, both blended and single origin, with sources that include pu'erh from Yunnan in China. Blends are developed in house to taste good enough for daily drinking, and the company moved its sachet production to Colorado rather than using a co-packer.

make blends so delicious that people will want to drink tea every day.

Why we carry them

We like The Tea Spot for anyone ready to move from bags to loose leaf, since the blends are easy to love and the steepware makes brewing simple.
