Their story
Arnot-Roberts is the work of Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts, who grew up together in Napa Valley and started the winery in Healdsburg in 2001. Nathan came from a family of coopers and worked in the barrel trade after college, while Duncan spent years as an assistant winemaker at well-known Napa and Sonoma cellars.
The pair became early voices in what writers called the new California style, favoring lighter, high-acid wines that show where the grapes were grown. They work with vineyards up and down the state, from Santa Barbara to Clear Lake, and name many bottlings after the individual site.
How it's made
Fermentations rely on native yeasts, new oak is used sparingly, and red wines often ferment with whole clusters. Each wine comes from a single vineyard, and the goal is a bright, fresh wine in youth that gains finesse with age.
