Their story
Azul y Garanza is the project of Dani Sánchez, María Barrena and Fernando Barrena in Navarra. Their vineyards start at the Bardenas Reales Natural Park, a dry, semi-desert landscape with thin clay soils, little rain and big swings between day and night.
They work out of a partly underground bodega built between 1940 and 1960. They treat each plot as a whole landscape, counting the surrounding plants, trees and wildlife as part of what makes the vines thrive.
How it's made
The vineyards are farmed organically, with no pesticides, insecticides or chemical fertilizers. Grapes ferment with native yeasts in small concrete tanks that keep different soils and varieties separate. The wines get only a light clarification and are bottled unfiltered.

Why we carry them
We like Azul y Garanza for honest, easy-drinking wines from a corner of Spain few people know. They are a good entry point into natural-leaning wine.
