Their story

Aviation began in Portland, Oregon, in 2006, when distiller Christian Krogstad of House Spirits teamed up with bartender Ryan Magarian. Their goal was a gin that leaned less on juniper and more on balance, something a bartender could build a drink around.

Actor Ryan Reynolds bought a stake in 2018 and became the brand's very public face, promoting it in films and through Wrexham A.F.C. In August 2020, Diageo acquired Aviation in a deal worth up to $610 million, with Reynolds keeping an ownership interest.

How it's made

Aviation starts with a grain spirit. Seven botanicals, including juniper, lavender, cardamom, coriander, sweet and bitter orange peel, Indian sarsaparilla and anise seed, steep for 18 hours before redistillation in a pot still. The spirit is then cut with Cascade mountain water to 84 proof.

Why we carry them

We like Aviation when a classic juniper bomb feels like too much. Its lavender and citrus make it a friendly pick for a Last Word or a simple gin and tonic.
